Things that I’m grateful for at this very moment:
We are now nearing the end of our first 24 hours of travel. This time, I am NOT alone and am traveling with a group of 11 other students and 2 professors to Athens. Or at least that was the plan! We have now been waiting at the Paris airport for 8 hours (2 more to go!) for our flight after we missed our connection this morning. Whoever thought it would be wise to only schedule a 1 hr 45 min connection time with only one, I repeat, ONE person scanning people in at customs is a [insert unkind word here because I am tired and my whole body is sore]. To make matters worse, we are sitting in the city of love and couldn’t even go out to explore because games were being played with receiving our new boarding passes and, frankly given our situation, no one wanted to risk leaving the airport with only 4 hours until our new departure time. So here we sit, on the floor trying to catch a few hours of sleep before we head forward to Greece. Now that all of my ranting is over: I am so excited to land in Athens! I am traveling for a class focusing on medical humanities and the influence that early Greek medicine has on us today. Our apartment is smack in the middle of the city and our itinerary, because of this detour, is busy and full! A few mild observations that I’ve made since sitting here counting the spots on the carpet:
